The Ask

Motel Rocks were looking for an app that could support them in their international growth strategy. They had an existing app with a Shopify Plus accredited app builder. However, they had recently undergone a rebrand and the existing app was unable to provide design and performance continuity with their new and improved online store. The app was also unable to provide support for their various clone stores (UK, US, EU, and AUS).These limitations had led to a string of negative app reviews from customers who were left frustrated with the performance of the app vs. the new online store.

The Solution

The Motel and Venn Apps design team worked collaboratively to redesign the Motel app to ensure that there would be UI & UX consistency between the new online store and the app. Additionally, we developed in-house technology to allow customers to switch between the various clone stores directly within the app (UK, US, EU, and AUS).The app underwent an App Store Optimisation (ASO) audit, which involved designing new app store screenshots, app keyword optimisation and a number of other app optimisation strategies to improve Motel Rock’s ranking in the app store. The Motel Rocks app is now consistently one of the most downloaded shopping apps in the UK and the app rating improved dramatically from 3.3 to 4.8 stars.
